A coaching relationship starts with trust.
The benefits of change coaching are best discovered in practice. That’s why the first session is complimentary.
Try coaching to witness the benefits!
The first coaching session gives you the opportunity to experience coaching for yourself and evaluate whether it helps you find progress in the areas you are looking to change and develop.
In the first session we begin by getting acquainted and going through the terms and conditions of the service to make sure our expectations align. Then we choose an area of development or change which you want to focus on in that moment. The coach leads the session into a discussion around this topic, following the Bestway process which enables you to:
Build Awareness of what you want to change and why
Define the Support required to advance towards your goals
Plan and schedule Action that promotes the wanted change
Cultivate a culture of Persistence by reviewing results and readjusting accordingly
At the end of the session we reflect upon the results of our time together. If you found the session and change process to bring you clarity and focus into the areas you are hoping to develop, this is a good time to discuss how we can continue our collaboration going forward. On the other hand, if you found change coaching not to be your cup of tea, at least you’re one experience richer with no strings attached!
What you need for the first session:
A rough idea of the topic you want to develop or change.
To help us get into gear from the get go, it’s good to identify the area in your life which you’re hoping to develop or change. It can be something fairly broad like reducing stress from work, improving family relations or finding more meaning in life. A more specific target works well too, like wanting to achieve a certain goal in your career, getting enrolled into a specific school or aiming to hit a certain result in sports. Together we’ll further qualify and refine the topic and goals into something achievable.
A calm space and an internet connection.
Primarily all sessions are conducted via video conferencing. To make the best out of the remote sessions, try to make sure you have a private space with no distractions or background noise for the entire duration of our session. This helps us focus the limited time we have on what’s most important to you, delivering you the best results possible.
Something to write on and an hour of your time.
Make sure you have something to make notes with. A pen and some paper works fine! Our first session usually lasts an hour or so.

Ground rules for coaching
Please read the ground rules below before our first session. The rules are there to manage expectations and ensure mutual clarity, safety and successful results. By taking part, you commit to following these rules. Don’t hesitate to ask if there’s anything that you want to further clarify!
Defining the coaching relationship.
Coaching forms a professional relationship between the client and their coach. The aim of that relationship is to enable the client to define and understand short- and long-term goals they hope to achieve, build a plan to achieve those goals and execute the plan at a pace and means best suited for the client. The coach is there to support this process with questions, encouragement and different techniques.
Coach-client confidentiality.
Both the coach and client agree to keep the content discussed in sessions confidential. Neither party has the right to divulge information to 3rd parties unless it is agreed upon in beforehand.
This confidentiality agreement does not apply to cases where the information discussed could relate to matters deemed illegal or punishable by law.
The client sets the goals and expectations.
The goals of a coaching relationship can relate to any area of the client’s choosing, ranging from career progress, financial stability and education to relationships, self-knowledge and matters of faith. The client is responsible for the decisions, scheduling and actions they perform as an outcome of the coaching relationship. The client and coach both have the freedom to end the coaching relationship at any time.
Coaching is not an alternative to therapy.
The client is responsible for their own physical and mental health, as well as informing the coach in cases where there might be health aspects that could affect the coaching relationship.
Coaching is not an alternative to therapy, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis or other forms of mental health care.
Agreed appointments.
Coaching appointments can be conducted face to face or by phone calls, Skype meetings or other means of direct communication according to what the coach and client agree upon.
If an agreed appointment has to be rescheduled or cancelled, both parties aim to do so no later than 24 hours before the agreed appointment.
Rights to the Bestway process.
The change coaching process used by the coach has been designed to help the client manage change in a comprehensive way now and in the future. If the client sees benefits in utilizing the process as an operating method in their private life outside the coaching relationship, they are naturally free to do so.
However Bestway reserves the right to use the Bestway process in a coaching context and for business use, unless otherwise is agreed upon in written form.
What happens after the first session?
Evaluate the benefits.
Did change coaching help you in clarifying your goals and the steps required to get there? A good measure for quality is asking yourself: “Would I recommend this service to someone else?”
Define our collaboration going forward.
Change often occurs in cycles and within different time periods depending on the scale, impact and involved parties.
An easy choice going forward is follow up the 1st session with booking 3 follow-up sessions, once a week or every other week. This builds continuity and commitment to the goals you aim to achieve.
Agree on a fitting investment to the situation at hand.
We always find a price per session that seems fair for both parties. Let’s discuss the investment at the end of our first session.
You can pay per session or all agreed sessions in one payment.
Put in the work!
Let’s book our next appointment and go for it. Ain’t nothing to it but to do it - positive change is attainable with persistent, well-planned execution of measurable actions.
